If the Hilo was assumed to be the most transparent AD/DA converter and with the best resolution, Lynx has just announced the Hilo 2 at the NAMM 2024, with better dynamics, more transparency – if possible – and a touch screen with new functions. Aesthetically similar to the first version, it’s granted to be the converter per excellence on the market.

Features and news of version 2:

  • New! The Hilo 2 has better and more transparent performance with even lower distortion (figures to follow soon).
  • New! The SynchroLock 2 offers faster locking and better tracking of external clocks and 7ppm absolute accuracy.
  • New! The Hilo 2 also offers an upgraded in-plane switching LCD, with a capacitive touch panel that provides a significant increase in brightness, uniform off-axis viewing, and improved touch responsiveness.
  • New! Hilo 2 also provides an upgrade path to high sample rates above 192kHz and DSD on input and output, and offers selectable linear and minimum phase filters on its line I/O.
  • Hilo is a 3 in one unitAD converter, DA converter and Headphone with its own dedicated D/A converter.
  • There are three unique sets of analog outputs: main analog output, monitor output (with volume) and headphone output (with volume)
  • The flexible digital I/O section offers the choice of AES/EBU, SPDIF by coax or TOSLINK optical, or ADAT formats
  • The innovative design of the analog stage and converter topology allow ultra low noise and distortion specifications
  • A 480 x 272 pixel LCD touch screen for operation and monitoring
  • A 32 channel internal mixer in the updatable FPGA
  • 12 total inputs, 16 total outputs plus 32 channels possible via LSlot. (LT-USB, LT-TB or LT-DANTE)

Who is Lynx intended for? Thread 2:

Hilo 2 is for professionals who demand the purest sound quality. Designed to be a true all-in-one device, Hilo offers class-leading AD/DA conversion, integrated measurement and analysis, multiple inputs and outputs, hyper-flexible routing and monitor control, all easily stored and recalled via the touch screen.

The Software:

  • Metering: Hilo displays real-time, accurate metering and analysis. Dual horizontal, VU analog, all I/O and spectrum analysis cover all tasks.
  • Routing: Route anything, anywhere. Set independent input levels, channel modes and mute states for each output. Then set unique level offsets for each output. Truly flexible.
  • Monitoring: One-to-one monitoring. Independently level-match your 4×4 selected sources, then globally control with the master-volume.
  • Scenes: Device-wide settings recall. Save custom scenes for different tasks and switch through them in a click.
  • Settings: No need for extra computer software, change any setting directly on Hilo, such as sample rate, clock source or trims.

Remote thread, now expanded:

The Hilo Remote app for Windows and Mac, allows for extensive control, monitoring and visual reference when using the Lynx Hilo Reference AD/DA converter system. Now, with version 2, the functions of the app have also been expanded. It is completely free and can be downloaded from Lynx website.

Availability and price Lynx Hilo 2:

The first units of Hilo 2 will leave the factory at the end of April. As a novelty, the Hilo 2 will only be available with a black front panel.
