Description
The Trip Zero by Trip Electronics is a two-channel microphone, line and instrument (DI) preamplifier in a 1U rack format, designed for the first and last stage of the signal chain. An original circuit, not based on clones, hand-built in Portugal with 100% Through-Hole (THT) technology and discrete Class A components.
It combines a hybrid design with NOS (New Old Stock) Germanium and Silicon transistors with custom-wound transformers. It offers an extremely low noise level, wide dynamic range (headroom) and an extended high-frequency response, bringing a unique warmth and harmonic saturation to both recording and mixing.
Its architecture is completed by an internal linear power supply fed by an external 24V AC-AC transformer (included), guaranteeing maximum thermal and mains-noise isolation in the audio signal path.
Trip Zero features:
- Microphone, Line and DI Preamplifier: 2 independent channels in 1U Rack format.
- Discrete Class A Circuit: Exclusive hybrid design with NOS (New Old Stock) Germanium and Silicon transistors.
- Handcrafted Construction: 100% Through-Hole (THT) technology
- Custom-Wound Transformers: On balanced XLR inputs and outputs.
- Microphone Input: Dense, smooth and warm sound with rich harmonic saturation and transient response between vintage valve and solid state (Input impedance: 200 Ω).
- Line Input: Ideal for mix buses and mastering. When the gain is set to 0 dB (unity gain), it allows the signal to be saturated, bringing depth and cohesion (Input impedance: 10 kΩ).
- Instrument Input (DI): 1/4″ jack on the front panel with 2.2 MΩ impedance, optimised for stringed instruments while preserving dynamics and detail.
- Gain Control: 10-position stepped switch with a maximum gain of 50 dB.
- Per-Channel Controls: +48V Phantom Power, -20 dB PAD Attenuator and Phase Inverter (∅).
- Power Supply: Internal linear power supply fed by an external 24V AC-AC adapter (included).
- Dimensions (WxDxH): 48.26 x 18 x 4.45 cm — 1U Rack format.
- Weight: 3 kg.
