Description
The Samar MG20 is a transformer-coupled small-diaphragm microphone characterised by its low noise floor, high SPL handling, natural sound, smooth response, and deep, extended bass. This makes the MG20 the perfect solution for demanding professional engineers, studios, artists, and home recording enthusiasts seeking the highest quality in their recordings. It is handcrafted and meticulously assembled.
At the heart of the MG20 lies an ultra-high-quality capsule operating with a transformer-coupled circuit, which consists of a single JFET loaded by a custom-made transformer. This circuit is very similar to the classic KM84, with some modern modifications to further optimise its performance. The transformer was developed for Samar Audio by Dr. Mark Fouxman specifically for this model and wound with chambers (a topology adopted in the Neumann BV8 and other high-end transformers) to achieve very low capacitance and excellent high-frequency response.
