At the heart of the microphone lies a piston-type corrugated ribbon. Compared to conventional zigzag corrugation, it offers lower noise, a deeper, fuller, and more controlled bass response, higher output, lower resonance modes, and very high SPL handling capability. The ribbon motor is coupled to a custom-made amorphous-core toroidal transformer derived from Samar’s flagship MF65 model. In addition to its symmetrical design, which makes it ideal for MS and Blumlein configurations, the AL95 comes in an injection-molded carrying case with a shock-resistant, anti-vibration clip.
