Description
The Bae Quad Eight CA-127 is a two-channel preamp for professionals with extensive experience in the industry. If you like the classic British saturated sound and are looking for something with more headroom, this preamp adds extra dimension to your recordings. It has that natural sheen of 70 consoles, but without sounding metallic or forced.
Based on the discrete AM-10 op-amp, whose design stands out for its exceptionally high slew rate that minimises intermodulation distortion in complex transients. Unlike systems based on the 2520, the CA-127 offers a more linear gain topology and headroom exceeding +28 dBu before clipping. Its signal path, coupled by Reichenbach/Jensen transformers, ensures total isolation and a flat frequency response from 10 Hz. The unit is housed in a shielded steel chassis with an internal power supply operating at ± 20 V DC, providing ample dynamic range. It includes -20 dB attenuation buttons for high-volume sources and a phase inversion switch.
