Following meetings held during NAMM 2025, Reflexion Arts is pleased to announce the official distribution of Auratone Audio products in the Iberian Peninsula. This agreement will ensure greater availability of Auratone products and local technical support for users of the brand in both Spain and Portugal.

What’s New at Auratone:

The legendary American company Auratone, renowned for its iconic 5C Super Sound Cube studio monitor, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with a historic release: its first active monitor, the 5C Active Super Sound Cube. While preserving the essence and characteristic sound of the original 5C, this new model includes a built-in 50W amplifier developed in collaboration with Bettermaker. It retains the original compact design and 4.5″ speaker from the Classic 5C, as well as a frequency response from 80Hz to 15kHz, combo XLR/TRS inputs, and an external power supply with advanced protection features.

A Bit of History:

Founded in 1958 in Los Angeles by Jack Wilson, Auratone began as a homemade speaker project during World War II. Jack soon moved into the professional recording market, introducing his first reference monitors for sound engineers in the 1970s: the now-famous 5C Super Sound Cube.

“The speakers of truth”

In 1982, the iconic Michael Jackson album Thriller—the best-selling album of all time—was 80% mixed using Auratone 5C monitors, under the direction of Quincy Jones and Bruce Swedien. Quincy himself called them <<the speakers of truth>>. Other renowned artists such as Paul McCartney, ABBA, and The Beach Boys also relied on Auratone monitors, which soon became a staple in virtually all major recording studios worldwide.Auratone 5C NoticiaAfter Jack Wilson’s passing in 2005, his legacy was taken up by his grandson Alex Jacobsen, who years later sourced the original paper cone material from U.S. manufacturers to faithfully recreate Auratone’s signature sound. Now based in Nashville, Auratone remains a family-owned company and a global reference in professional audio. Its monitors have been used in countless Grammy-winning productions, including work by Taylor Swift, Adele, Lady Gaga, U2, Coldplay, and more.

Renowned engineers such as Tom Elmhirst, Michael Ilbert, Jack Antonoff, and Laura Sisk rely on the 5C monitors in their daily work. Tom Elmhirst, owner of Electric Lady Studios in New York and a user of the new 5Cs, stated: Auratones have been central to my monitoring throughout my career and are indispensable to my mixing process.

In recent years, Auratone has won several NAMM TEC Awards, further cementing the brand’s status.

In Summary:

With its relaunch and new distribution across the Iberian Peninsula through Reflexion Arts, Auratone reaffirms its legacy and looks toward the future, representing excellent news for sound engineers, producers, and mix technicians who seek precision for critical decision-making in the music production process.
